Alexander “Al” Aloia, 78, of St. John, Indiana, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026, surrounded by his wife and three children.
Born on November 27, 1947, in South Chicago, Al was the beloved son of Alexander and Florence Aloia. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be remembered for his selflessness, generosity, humor, strength, and unwavering devotion to his family.
Al dedicated his life to working—as many as three jobs at a time—to provide for his family. One of his first jobs was working on the railroad with the family business, Aloia Railroad Construction. He retired from Marblehead Lime Company, where he worked for more than 30 years as a supervisor. Along with his brothers and sister, Al shared a lifelong passion for music and enjoyed performing in multiple bands. His true passion, however, was cars. He spent hours detailing his antique cars for local car shows, where he enjoyed spending time with his family and winning many trophies.
Family was the center of Al’s life. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Aloia; his three children, Justin (Venessa) Aloia, Nicole (Jovan) Josifovski, and Aaron (Jennie) Aloia; his grandchildren, Savanna, Wyatt, Ava, Sawyer, and Ty; his sister, Francis (the late Joseph) Vulpone; sisters-in-law Lynne (the late Ronaldo) Aloia, Audrey (the late Charles) Jokerst, Joni (Warren) Mrowczynski, and Nancy (Rodney) Bozinovich; brother-in-law John (Kitty) Brozinski; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Florence Aloia; his brother, Dino (the late Sharon) Aloia; his niece, Diane Vulpone; and his nephew, Kyle Brozinski.
Those who knew Al will remember his hard work, dedication to his family, and selflessness. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a legacy of love that will live on through his family and friends who were fortunate enough to know him.
