Linda L. Peppin (née Linton), age 79, of Flossmoor, Illinois, formerly of Kankakee, Illinois, passed away on September 26, 2026.
Linda was adopted at the age of six by Fred Bennett Linton and Ada Lillian Linton (née Lewzader). She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Fred, Kenneth, and Kathleen.
She was the mother of Brian (Coleen) Peppin.
From an early age, Linda had a strong sense of civic responsibility. As a teenager, she worked with the local draft board and at the Kankakee Public Library.
Linda began her professional career in the insurance industry, but an early interest in emerging technology helped shape the career that followed. Well ahead of the curve, she was training others to use computer software in the 1980s, when workplace technology was still unfamiliar territory for many. That experience eventually led Linda to a successful career as a Project Management Professional, a field in which she worked for many years.
Away from work, Linda had a lifelong appreciation for art, music, and beautiful things. An avid art collector, she took great pride in the collection she assembled over the years. She was creative herself, enjoyed painting, played the piano, and appreciated the finer things in life.
Linda was fiercely independent and intensely private, most comfortable living life on her own terms. She had a particular affection for Siamese cats and shared her life with them throughout the years. In true Linda fashion, she often found their quiet companionship preferable to that of people.
Linda was a woman of intelligence, creativity, independence, and very definite tastes. She surrounded herself with the things that spoke to her—art, music, beauty, and, of course, her cats—and created a life that was distinctly her own.
Services were held privately for the family.
