Dorothy Bezler

Passed away on August 7, 2026

Dorothy Bezler, 94, formerly of South Chicago, passed away July 31, 2026.  She was the daughter of Charles and Stella (Skowron) Michna.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Bezler, and son, Peter Bezler, and sisters, Eleanore Crowell, Loretta Wegner, and Theresa Michna.  She is survived by her four daughters, Christine (Tim) Cole, Barbara (Mike) Mahoney, Carol (Jim) Rudzinski, Susan (Rick) Bezler, and daughter-in-law Debbie Bezler.  She was the beloved Grandmother of seven grandchildren, Alison, Emily, Katie, Meghan, Brian, Bridget, and Christopher.  She was the proud Great-Grandma of twelve great-grandchildren.  

Dorothy’s joy for life meant every day was a celebration. She loved to bake and cook, and she loved to share her food with everyone she met. She was very involved in her church, both at St. Bronislava in South Chicago and St. Stanislaus Kostka in Rockford, IL. Ed and Dorothy moved to Rockford in 1984, and then to Arizona in 2016, but they always called Chicago home.  In Rockford, she was very involved with the Rockford Polish Fest at St. Stan’s. She loved her Polish heritage - there wasn’t a Polka song she didn’t dance to or sing along with. Her joy for her culture and all aspects of life was the greatest gift that she passed down to her children and grandchildren. 

A Memorial Visitation will be held at Elmwood Chapel, 11200 S. Ewing Avenue, Chicago, Illinois on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 8:30 - 10:30, followed by Mass at 11:00 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, IN.  Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL.  For more information call 773-731-2749.
