Robert N. Kookich, “Newman”, age 79, late of Crown Point, IN and formerly of Hegewisch passed away on August 21, 2026. Beloved husband of Susan (nee King) for 57 years. Loving father of Natalie (William) Wasko. Devoted grandfather of Nathaniel (Eyshe) Beirich. Dear son of the late Nicholas and late Sophie Kookich (nee Haltek). Dearest brother of Ruth (late Nick) Petros, late Ronald Kookich, late Robyn (late Steve) Robak, and late Richard Kookich. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Robert was a U. S. Army Vietnam Veteran serving from 1966 to 1968. Former employee of Wisconsin Steel.
Robert was a graduate of Chicago Vocational High School, class of 1966. He and his wife lived in Rhinelander Wisconsin for 12 years. He was an avid fisherman and a proud member of the American Legion post 272.
