Ivan Grbavac, age 78. Late of Orland Park, IL. Formerly of Calumet City. Passed away on August 19, 2026. Beloved husband of Nena Grbavac (nee Vukinovic) for 53 years. Loving Tata of Michelle Grbavac (Mark Nielsen) and the late Johhny Grbavac. Cherished “Didi” of Presley and Ella Grbavac. Adored son of late Dragica and late Luka Grbavac, and son in law of Ivka and late Josip Vukinovic. Dearest brother of late Jozo (Mila) Grbavac, Nikola (Danica) Grbavac, late Anica Pavlak, and late Zora Marinkovic. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Ivan was a quiet and humble man who was happiest at home and took great pride in caring for his family and his home. When he was healthy, he enjoyed working outside and keeping busy with projects around the house. He was a handsome man with a generous spirit, a kind heart, and a deep sense of loyalty to the people he loved.

He immigrated to the United States in 1971 and built a life through hard work, determination, and dedication to his family. He worked in maintenance and also had his own side painting business. He took pride in his work and in providing for those he loved.

He was married for 53 years and cherished the life and family he and his loving wife built together. Family was at the center of his life, and he was especially devoted to his granddaughters, whom he loved with all his heart. His generosity extended to everyone he loved, and he was always willing to give, help, and do for his family.

As the years passed, he became a softer, calmer, and more affectionate man, growing especially close with his family. He had a way of expressing his love through simple, heartfelt words and gestures.

He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—being at home, watching sports, spending time with family, and enjoying good Croatian food. He was a man who did not need much to be content, and his quiet presence brought a sense of comfort to those around him.

He will be remembered for his good heart, generosity, loyalty, hard work, and the unconditional love he had for his family. Though he was a quiet man, the love he gave was deeply felt, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Funeral Services, Monday, August 24, 2026, Directly at Sacred Heart Croatian Catholic Church where a visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Elmwood Chapel- Chicago. 773-731-2749
