Barbara Ann Janowski

Passed away on June 18, 2026

Born on September 20, 1946, on the Southeast Side of Chicago, Barbara was the daughter of Louis and Rose Ann Bartuzik. She spent her life as a devoted homemaker and was known for her kindness, warmth, generous heart, and, of course, her baking. She married Kenneth W. Janowski on June 1, 1968, and together they shared 58 wonderful years of marriage. Barbara passed away peacefully at home on June 18, 2026, with her beloved husband by her side.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Janowski; her children, John (Gretchen) Janowski, Jenny (Doug) O'Brien and Judy (Tim) Boyle; her grandchildren, Taylor, Collin, Brady and Cody; her siblings, Nancy (Richard) Gately, Rita (Perry) Bergschneider, Larry (Tasha) Bartuzik and Rose Ann Ulanowski; along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and granddogs. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Rose Ann Bartuzik; her parents-in-law, Wallace and Lillian Janowski; and her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Arthur (Joanne) Janowski and James Janowski.

Above all else, Barb was a fiercely proud and loving mother and grandmother. She lived her life with boundless energy, always putting her family first. Being a grandmother was among Barb's greatest blessings, and she treasured every moment spent with Taylor, Collin, Brady, and Cody.

She found immense joy in volunteering with Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps for more than 30 years. Her warm smile, steady guidance, and unconditional love touched thousands of lives and will be missed by all who knew her. In recognition of her lasting dedication and impact, Phantom Regiment inducted Barb into the Phantom Regiment Hall of Fame in 2021, honoring her significant and enduring contributions to the organization.

Visitation and Funeral Services Friday, June 26, 2026 from 2:00 pm until time of Funeral Service at 7:00 pm at the Elmwood Funeral Chapel 11300 W. 97th Lane (½ block west of US 41/Wicker Ave. At 97th Ln) St. John, Indiana
