Nettie Brady

Passed away on May 29, 2026

April 7, 1930 - May 29, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Nettie Brady, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, on May 29, 2026 at the age of 96. Nettie's life was defined by her faith and family. She grew up in Garfield, NJ, where she met her husband of 42 years, Frank. They were married in 1949 and lived in Garfield, East Paterson & Wayne, where she raised her 4 children until Frank's passing in 1991.

She then moved to Florida near her adult sons and her sisters for 30 years before moving to Indiana to be near her daughter. Her passing, with her daughter at her side, was prayerful and peaceful, and her faith remained strong throughout.

Nettie (born Antonia Traina) was first-generation American, and known as being a great Sicilian cook, never being satisfied until we ate everything put on our plate, and her recipe box was classified as "top secret." Her trust in the Lord was unwavering, as her family were often told to "offer it up" for whatever difficulties being experienced. Her children learned and lived by her many Biblical quotes, and St. Anthony was always present to help her find whatever was misplaced. She was a devoted Catholic Eucharistic minister, active Rosary Society member and the Bookkeeper for Neuman Prep Catholic High School.

Nettie loved her sisters and brother dearly. She exemplified what it is to be an Italian mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her 4 children, Colleen Hansen (Bill) of St. John, IN, Frank Brady (Jeanne) of Houston, TX, Terry Brady (Kathy) of Pt. Pleasant Beach, NJ, and Scott Brady (Carmen) of Miramar, FL, as well as her grandchildren, Kimberly, Jennifer, Billy, Michael, Matthew, Kenneth, Natalie, Jessica, Dio, Diana and her great-grandchildren Rileigh, Alex, Roman, Sofia, Wes, and Dylan. Services will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in St. John on June 11 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in St. John with visitation at noon and Mass beginning 1pm, officiated by the Reverend Michael Surufka. She will then be laid to rest with her husband at St. Nicholas Cemetery in Lodi, NJ.
