Radosav S. Petrovich, "Rudy"

Passed away on May 23, 2026

Radosav Petrovich, devoted husband of 57 years, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Munster, Indiana on May 23, 2026 at 87 years of age. He was born in Medjureč Serbia on November 7, 1938, son of the late Svetomir and Zlata (Savić) Petrovich.

Radosav (Rudy) had a lifelong passion for sports, music, maps and all things mechanical and technical. He loved and quickly became very good at playing soccer as a young child and played in amateur leagues well into adulthood. He trained as an electrician in Beograd and worked at Kablove before immigrating to Chicago and joining his parents in 1963. Throughout his career, Radosav worked as an electrician at various companies, including Wisconsin Steel, Republic Steel, Solo Cup, and Chicago Coach. He retired in 2002, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication.

He married the love of his life, Zorica Djurdjević on July 6, 1969. Together they blessed their family with two daughters, Milka and Milanka. He cared for his parents until their final days. The family moved from the East Side of Chicago to Calumet City, and then later moved to northwest Indiana to both Dyer and St John.

He was a founding member of St Simeon Mirotočivi Serbian Orthodox Church in Chicago. He remained active for years as a devoted church member and choir member. He faithfully gave his time to his church and family through the folklore group, other church events and fests, and was known to volunteer his services as an electrician when needed to his beloved church.

He is survived by his wife, Zorica, daughters Milka (Todd) Thoresen, Milanka (Tom) Van Osdol, and grandchildren Jessica, Leila, Luka, Oliver, and Aleksa. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, a testament to his enduring love and contributions to their lives.

Visitation will take place, Sunday, May 31, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with a Pomen Service at 5:30 p.m. at Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home 11200 S Ewing Ave, Chicago, IL 60617. Funeral Services Monday, June 1, 2026, Directly at St. Simeon Mirotočivi Serbian Orthodox Church, where Radosav will Lie in State from 10:30 a.m. until time of Service at 11:00 a.m. with the Very Rev. Mile Subotic, officiating. Interment New Gracanica Serbian Orthodox Cemetery, Third Lake, IL.
