Thomas “Tomas” Avila, age 73, late of South Chicago, passed away May 16, 2026. Beloved husband of Margarita (nee Sanchez) for 50 years. Loving father of Clara (Cesar) Cabrera and Carmen Avila. Devoted grandfather of Cesar J. Cabrera, Guadalupe M. Cabrera, Rocio I. Cabrera, Sofia C. Cabrera and Alejandro T. Avila. Dearest brother of Roberto Avila, Maria de los Angeles, Ramon Avila, Noe Avila, Jorge Avila, late Maria del Rosario Avila, late Clara Avila and late Martin Avila. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.  Loved playing music, enjoyed playing soccer and coaching. His favorite pass time was spending time with family and especially with his grandchildren.

Visitation Friday 2-8 p.m. Funeral Services Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) from the Elmwood Chapel, 11200 S. Ewing Ave., Chicago to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
