Leonard P. Bane, "Lenny"

Passed away on April 18, 2026

Leonard P. “Lenny” Bane, age 63, of Whiting, IN, and formerly of Chicago’s East Side, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Lenny was the beloved husband of Deanna (nee Sammons) for 40 wonderful years. He was the loving father of Becky (Paul) Skalka and Jason Nykowski, and the devoted grandfather of Colin, twins Emma and Austin Skalka, and the late Madison Nykowski.

He was the dear son of Mary Bane and the late Leonard R. Bane; cherished brother of James Bane and Lisa (Dan) Kananowicz; and a fond brother-in-law and uncle to many nieces and nephews.

A retired employee of Ryerson Steel, Lenny was a man of many simple joys. He loved bowling, fishing, and the spirited competition of family card nights. He was a familiar face at The Southeast Sportsmen’s Club, where he spent many happy hours with his buddies. Above all else, Lenny’s greatest passion was his family, to whom he was fiercely devoted.

Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 2:30 p.m. at the Elmwood Chapel, 11200 S. Ewing Ave., Chicago, IL 60617.

Interment will be private.
