Joseph L. Murzyn, age 70, of Chicago, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026. He was born on February 27, 1956, in Chicago, where he would spend most of his life.
He was the beloved son of the late Audrey and Richard Murzyn.
Joe was a proud graduate of George Washington High School. He found great purpose and satisfaction working with his hands throughout his life. He specialized in painting and restoring both commercial and residential properties, taking pride in transforming spaces and leaving them better than he found them. His craftsmanship and attention to detail were evident in every project he completed.
Beyond his work, Joe was known for his fun-loving spirit and wonderful sense of humor. He genuinely enjoyed telling stories—often sharing tales from his life with warmth, wit, and a twinkle in his eye that could light up any room. He also loved fishing, whether casting a line on a quiet morning or simply enjoying the peace it brought him. Music was another passion, providing a soundtrack to many happy moments. His outgoing personality and ability to make people laugh meant he was loved by many and never far from good company.
He is survived by his siblings: Sherry Devine (Rick Devine), Debra Grafrath, Kimberly Ruzich (Greg Ruzich), Nicole Aniol (Keith Aniol), and Richard Murzyn. He was a cherished brother, uncle, nephew, and cousin, leaving behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will carry fond memories of his stories, his laughter, and the love he shared so freely.
