John Patrick Egan

Passed away on March 25, 2026

John Patrick Egan, 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a courageous and hard-fought health battle. A devoted husband of 48 years to Madonna (nee Vorderer), proud father of John, Beth (Dan) Rose, Tim (Michelle) and Michelle Hamilton, and loving grandfather of Bennett Rose, Jackson Egan, Katelyn Egan, and Henry Hamilton, John’s legacy as a kind, humble, and gentle family man is how most will remember him best.

Born and raised in Chicago Heights, Illinois, John was the second of the late Philip and the late Patricia’s (nee O’Malley) nine children. He loved to recount the nostalgia and amusing tales of his formative years with his many siblings and lifelong friends.

John met his future wife, Madonna, in 1972, and they were married in 1977. They raised their four children in Orland Park, while spending most of their prized summer weekends with their family and many friends on Paw Paw Lake in Coloma, Michigan. Together, they were always the most generous and gracious hosts who made all around them feel welcome to share in their full lives.

John was a music lover who played the drums in a garage band, which in the later years matured into a campfire beach band of sorts. Besides his affection for the music of his youth, John was keenly interested in classic cars and was lucky enough to own a few over the years.

Not only did John have a profound impact on his immediate family, he was a supportive and kind brother, brother-in-law, cousin, uncle, and friend to countless people who were lucky enough to know him. In his final year, so many came together to show him the love and support he deserved. He was a content and confident man, who played the hand he was dealt with integrity and virtue.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
