Susan Ilic, "Susie"

Passed away on March 11, 2026

Susan (Susie) Ilic, age 50, of South Holland, Illinois, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026. Known for her unconditional love and infectious laughter, Susan embraced each day with a sense of adventure that inspired everyone around her to cherish the moment.

Though Susan lived with special needs, she never let anything limit her experiences. She was a multiple gold medal winner in the 60-yard dash and softball throw during the Special Olympics of Illinois competitions. Susan was a proud, lifelong member of Sacred Heart Croatian Catholic Church, where she received all her sacraments and remained deeply rooted in her faith. Her heritage was a great source of pride; as a member of the Sacred Heart Croatian Kolo group, she loved dancing the traditional kolo’s with her friends.

Susan’s outgoing nature allowed her to make friends wherever she went, whether at Croatian events or through her work at St. Coletta’s in Tinley Park. She found her greatest happiness in spending time with family and friends, eagerly anticipating the festivities of every holiday. Her childlike wonder and radiant smile will remain a lasting memory for all who knew her.

Susan is survived by her loving mother, Vilka Ilic, her devoted brothers, Werner (Ruzica) Ilic and Robert Ilic; and her cherished nephews, Nikola Ilic and Branimir Ilic. She is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. Susan was preceded in death by her loving father, Slavko Ilic. Her loving spirit will remain in our hearts forever.

Visitation and Funeral Services will take place Thursday, March 19, 2026, Directly at Sacred Heart Croatian Catholic Church (2864 E. 96 St. Chicago, IL.) from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Elmwood Chapel- Chicago, IL.
