Mile Michael Ivezic, "Milan"

Passed away on March 8, 2026

Mile Michael Ivezic “Milan”

September 10, 1944 – March 8, 2026

Late of Lawrence, Michigan, formerly of Chicago, Illinois and Crown Point, Indiana, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family.

Mile was born in Slavonski Brod, Croatia. A hardworking and dedicated man, he often worked two jobs at a time to support his family. He spent 35 years working as a building engineer in Chicago. Despite his many responsibilities, Mile always made time for the people and passions that mattered most to him—especially his family and his lifelong love of soccer.

His hobbies and interests reflected the joy he found in life and friendship. He cherished spending “buddy time” with friends after their soccer games, and he loved relaxing evenings by the lake around the bonfire with family and lake friends. Mile also enjoyed taking rides on the lake in his pontoon boat. As a family, they created many treasured memories camping in the Canadian wilderness and traveling together to Croatia, France, Slovenia, and throughout the United States.

Mile was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Croatian Catholic Church. He was also involved in several Croatian soccer clubs, including BSK (Marsonia, Croatia), Jadran (Chicago, IL), Hrvat (Chicago, IL), Sting (Chicago, IL), and the All Stars Soccer Club (Illinois). In recognition of his dedication to the sport, he was inducted into the Illinois Soccer Hall of Fame. Mile was also a member of the Croatian Republic (HRZ – Chicago Chapter) and the Reynolds Lake Association in Michigan.

He was known for his generosity, always giving his time, talents, and resources to help others.

Mile is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Zlata Goldie Ivezic (née Markov). Cherished father, “Tata,” of Michael “Miki” (Jennifer) Ivezic, Joseph (Dena) Ivezic, Jasmina Youssef, and Melita (Tamer) Obeid. Adored grandfather, “Dida,” to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his sister-in-law Jane (the late Steve) Ivezic of Skokie, Illinois; Ankica (the late Zvonimir) Slancek; brother-in-law Ivan (Marija) Markov of Croatia; cousins William Zvonko (Jadwiga) Stankovic of Canada, Nevenka (Ivica) Teveli, and Anica (Mirko) Mikolasevic of Croatia; and many beloved nieces and nephews including Zoran (Victoria) Ivezic of Lincolnwood,IL., Steve (Jen) Ivezic of Minnesota, David (Giselle) Ivezic of Maine, Ante (Sylvie) Ivezic and Richard (Veronique) Ivezic of France, and Drazenka (Branko) Buljan of Croatia. He also leaves behind many great-nieces and great-nephews in Croatia, Canada, Germany, and France.

Mile was preceded in death by his parents, Milka (née Stankovic) and Ivan Ivezic; his sisters Lucija and Marija (Marko) Tekic of Croatia; his brothers Tomica (Josipa) Ivezic of Canada, Ivan (Ernestina) Ivezic of France, and Steve (Jane) Ivezic of Skokie, Illinois; his granddaughter Ashley Ivezic of Indiana; and his nephews John (Grace) Ivezic and Thomas Ivezic of Canada.

We find comfort in knowing that Mile’s legacy lives on through the lessons he taught, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
