Marian Gifford, “MiMi”, (nee Tratar), age 74, late of Hegewisch and formerly of South Chicago passed away on February 26, 2026. Beloved wife of the late John Gifford. Loving mother of Jennifer (Michael) Zivat and Sandra (Michael) Garcia. Devoted grandmother of Michael (Emalee) Zivat, Andrew Zivat, Zachary Zivat, Jenna Zivat, Ashley Marciniak, James (Maria Navia) Schnaedter, Gage (Yasenia) Schnaedter, Logan Schnaedter, Seth Schnaedter, Chad Schnaedter, Talia Schnaedter and Peyton Schnaedter. Great-grandmother of many. Dear daughter of late John and late Marion Tratar. Dearest sister of late John (late Barbara) Tratar. Fond aunt of Debbie Brown and many other nieces and nephews.  

Marian worked as a waitress over the years at several different restaurants.  She loved going on mini vacations, especially to Lake Shafer and Shipshewana. She was planning on visiting Vegas when she was better.  Marian’s favorite things to do were going to the casino, watching her Cubbies, and shopping.  She was an avid QVC and HSN shopper. We constantly teased her because of her daily packages from there.   But, her most-favorite thing to do was spend time with her family.  She loved the holidays so that she could have all of her “babies” in one place.  Family was the most important thing to her.

Visitation Monday, March 2, 2026, from 2-8 p.m. at the Elmwood Chapel 11200 S. Ewing Ave. Chicago, IL 60617. Funeral services Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Cemetery private. 773-731-2749. www.elmwoodchapel.com.
