Martin C. Gomez, “Marty”, age 70, late of the East Side, passed away on February 22, 2026. Beloved husband of the late Sarah Gomez. Loving father of late Erin (John) O’Donnell and Matthew (Sara) Gomez. Devoted grandfather of Hayley, Declan, Keagan, Isabelle, and Elena. Dear son of the late Abraham and late Mary Gomez. Dearest brother of Abraham Gomez. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. 

Marty retired from the City of Chicago after 38 years of public service. Born in Chicago in November 1955, he was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School (Class of ‘73) and DePaul University (Class of ‘77). Marty was an enthusiastic lover of music, films, photography, and history. He loved celebrating and hosting holidays with family and friends. Those who knew and loved him take comfort in knowing Marty is truly at peace, reunited with his lovely bride Sarah.

Visitation Friday, February 27, 2026, from 2-8 p.m. at the Elmwood Chapel 11200 S. Ewing Ave. Chicago, IL 60617. Funeral services Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. Cemetery private. 773-731-2749. www.elmwoodchapel.com.
