Maria Katarzyna Barnas - Opyt 1937-2026

Mary Katherine Opyt, 88 of Steger, IL, was born in Kamienica, Poland. She passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on February 15, 2026. Mary is survived by her husband, Leonard J Opyt, mother of Marc (Marlo) Opyt and Danielle (Thomas) Walker. Loving grandmother to Carl Flahive, Sara Opyt, Kailen Walker, and Dezmond Walker. Mary was preceded by her parents Jan Barnas and Wiktoria Tokarczyk-Barnas. Siblings, Wojciech, Stanislawa, Wladyslaw, Jan, and Jozef. Dear sister to Rozalia (Walter) Faron. She was truly loved by many nieces, nephews, and family members. Mary always put her family first, before herself. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She will truly be missed.

Visitation will take place Monday, February 23, 2024 from 2:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service Tuesday, February 24, 2026 with closing prayers at 10:00 a.m. at the Elmwood Funeral Chapel 11300 W. 97th Ln.
