Sally Chengary (nee Strickland), age 81. Late of DeMotte, Indiana formerly of the East Side. Passed away on February 10, 2026. Beloved wife of Joseph “Ace” Chengary for 46 years. Loving mother of John (Geri) Howard, Tina (Mitchell) Borst, late Lita Goshen, Donna (Brian) Campbell, and Carla Chengary. Devoted grandmother and great-grandmother of many. Dear sister of Eugene Strickland. Fond sister-in-law of Vicki Strickland, Alan (Linea) Chengary, late Joan (late Jim) Francis, and late Marion Jovanovich. Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her sisters and brothers.

Sally was a longtime parishoner of St. Francis de Sales Church and dedicated volunteer for the church bingo as well as a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #238.

Visitation Friday, February 13, 2026 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm.. Funeral Service Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 9:15 am from the Elmwood Funeral Chapel, 11300 W. 97th Lane, St. John, IN to St. John the Evangelist Day Chapel on the corner of 93rd and Wicker Ave.. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am. Interment St. John/St. Joseph Cemetery, Hammond, Indiana.
