Passed away on January 20, 2026

Silvia S. Ramirez (nee Silva), age 86, late of the East Side, passed away on January 20, 2026. Beloved wife of the late Roberto Ramirez for 57 years. Loving mother of Rosana (Mark) Emmons, Silvia (Steve) Lockwald, Roberto Ramirez III, Marisol Ramirez and Eduardo Ramirez. Cherished grandmother of Adrian, Mark, Jillian, Christian, Sebastian, Roberto IV, Nicholas, Ethan and Patrick. Adored great grandmother of Margot, Luviana, Max, Luca, Aria, Ava, Roberto V, Juniper, Fiona and Archer. Preceded in death by her mother Aurora Silva.

Lovingly known as "Ma", Silvia will be remembered for her extravagant style, royal personality, and the boundless love she had for her family.

Either watching movies with her feline companion, Biggie, or fleecing friends and family alike during poker nights, Ma was always the life of the party.

Over the generations, her family grew to immense size, and Ma loved all of us and was loved by all of us.

No one will forget the many family gatherings and celebrations at her home, replete with classic music, Roman Cokes and many, many hats.

"I am heartbroken to hear of Silvia’s passing. It was at her home on East 91st Street, second floor, where I first discovered so many of my favorite songs, played by my cousin Silvia, who had an extraordinary love and gift for music. Perez Prado, Mike Laure, Javier Solis, Edie Gorme, Los Panchos and so many more. Silvia was the daughter of my Aunt Lola, my father’s older sister. As a child, I lived just a couple of houses away and spent many days visiting the Ramirez children, who felt more like siblings than cousins because we were so close in age. I often looked in admiration at what I describe as a perfect family. I remember being in awe of the love and beauty that Roberto and Silvia shared together. Their bond left a lasting impression on me. I will always remember the deep love Silvia and Roberto shared, a reflection of the kind of love described in Scripture—patient, kind, and enduring, realizing today that this was a strong model that molded me with my marriage. I will miss my cousin deeply. Please take comfort in knowing that while we grieve here, there is a joyful reunion taking place in heaven. You know that Silvia and Roberto are dancing in heaven. May God’s peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard the hearts of all who loved her (Philippians 4:7). "
