Gary M. Jelewski, age 73. Late of the East Side. Passed away on December, 31, 2025. Beloved son of Dolores and Norbert Jelewski. Loving brother of Beverly (Randall) Mowrey, and Duane (Jan) Jelewski. Cherished uncle of Jason, Elizabeth, and Christopher, and great-uncle to many. Preceded in death by his K9 companions Astro and Dixie. Retired Clerk for the Cook County Assessor. Gary enjoyed artwork and all music genres, especially opera. He was a longtime parishioner of Annunciata Church and member of the choir.

Visitation will take place on January 6, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Elmwood Funeral Chapel 11300 W. 97th Ln. St. John, IN. 46373. Funeral Services, Wednesday, January 7, 2026 Directly at St. Maria Goretti Church (500 Northgate Dr. Dyer, IN. 46311) where a visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.

"To Gary's family: I am so sorry for your loss. I met Gary years ago when I rode the "yellow charter bus" to my job downtown. He had a personality larger than life and made our commute to and from work so much fun. I remember when I started attending Annunciata church and seeing him in the choir! "Bev and Duane I just saw that Gary passed on Facebook tonight.So sorry for your loss. Lots of memories when you all lived in Jeffrey Manor back in the sixties & our parents were friends. My dad John was Garys Godfather.I used to see Gary sometimes at Annunciata or in the neighborhood. He was always so friendly & upbeat. May the Lord welcome him home.
