Hector Ayala, age 74, of South Chicago, born March 31, 1951, in Laredo, Texas. Passed away surrounded by his family on December 22, 2025. Husband of the late Daena Ayala.  Loving father of Lena (Matthew) Martinez, Deanna (James) Friend, and Mark (Miranda) Ayala.  Cherished grandfather of Matthew C. Martinez, Nicholas Friend, Joshua (Abigail) Martinez, Alexis (Mateo) Perez, Zachary Martinez, Breanna Friend, Sonny Ayala, Abigail Ayala, and Caroline Ayala.  Dearest great-grandfather of Evangeline Perez. Dear brother of John (Sally) Ayala, Patrica Anaya, and Ofelia Ayala.  Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.  Hector is preceded in death by his parents, Ezequiel and Ofelia Ayala, as well as siblings Oscar Espinoza and Estella Pacheco.  Hector was a longtime security guard at South Shore Hospital and American Bank Note. Memorial Visitation Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 2:00 pm until the time of service at 6:30 at the Elmwood Funeral Chapel, 11300 W. 97th LN. (1/2 block west of US 41/Wicker Ave. at 97th LN.)
