Juan Francisco Ortega Jr., age 99, of South Deering, passed away on December 21, 2025. Born in Colotlán, Jalisco, Mexico, Juan was the beloved husband of the late Rebeca Ortega (née Ramirez).

Loving father of Juan Francisco (Camille) Ortega III, Miguel Angel (Yvonne) Ortega, Leticia (Salvador) Arceo, Roberto Xavier (Guadalupe) Ortega, and Jaime Joel (Velia) Ortega. Devoted grandfather of 15 and cherished great-grandfather of 7.

Dear son of the late Juan Francisco Ortega Huizar and the late Maria Del Refugio Valdivia Ramos de Ortega. Dearest brother of the late José Guadalupe, Elena, Elisa, Maria del Consuelo, and Rodolfo (Blanca) Ortega Valdivia. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Juan was a retired employee of Republic (LTV) Steel. An avid reader with a lifelong passion for numbers, statistics, and gadgets, he was a devoted fan of the Chicago Cubs. While he cherished life's simple pleasures in Chicago, such as gardening, he also loved to tell funny stories that brought laughter to everyone. Above all, he was a beloved family man and remained a Mexican charro at heart.
