Virginia Young (nee Huerta), a devoted mother, grandmother, and matriarch, passed away surrounded by the love she so deeply gave throughout her life. She will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family, her strong work ethic, and her generous spirit.
Virginia was a beloved mother to six children and a proud grandmother to eleven grandchildren. Her legacy continued through six great-grandchildren and two cherished great-great-grandsons, with whom she especially delighted in spending time. Family was the cornerstone of Virginia’s life, and she treasured every moment shared with them.
She was a loving sister to Richard Huerta and Robert Molina and a dear cousin to many, maintaining close bonds with her extended family throughout her life.
Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved son, Richard “Magoo” Terrazas; her eldest daughter, Joyce Ann Gomez; and her parents, Ezekiel Martinez Huerta and Consuelo Martinez.
Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Virginia later became a long-time resident of Whiting, Indiana, where she built a life filled with love, friendship, and community. She dedicated many years of service to Republic Steel, from which she retired with pride after a long and committed career.
In her retirement, Virginia enjoyed traveling and creating lasting memories with her family, especially her great-great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and will be remembered as Bisa Pizza. Her warmth, resilience, and compassion left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Virginia will be greatly missed but forever remembered by those whose lives she touched.
