Ernesto Caballero, Jr., “Ernie”, age 76, late of Lansing, IL and formerly of South Chicago passed away on November 24, 2025. Beloved husband of Lucila Caballero for 53 years. Loving father of Ernesto Caballero, III, Alberto Caballero, Leslie (Cornell) Garza and Erica Caballero. Devoted grandfather of Elias Guereca Jr. Dear son of the late Ernesto Caballero, Sr. and late Beatriz Caballero. Dear brother of late Arturo (late Celia) Caballero, late San Juana Salinas, late Ernestina (late Jose) Gurierrez, late Alfredo (late Celia) Caballero, late Jose Luis Caballero, Hector (Mary) Caballero, Ruben Caballero, Ramiro (Carmen) Caballero and Minerva (late Joshua) Fonseca. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.  Ernesto was a retired carpenter with Union Local # 272. U.S. Army Veteran.
Visitation Sunday, November 30, 2025, from 2-8 p.m. Funeral Monday, December 1, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. from the Elmwood Chapel 11200 S. Ewing Ave. Chicago, IL 60617 to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
