Passed away on November 21, 2025

Zelenika, Walter A. 'Wally', 90, passed away on November 21, 2025. Born in Ontario, Canada, he was a resident of Lago Vista in Lockport, IL, and formerly of South Holland and raised in Chicago's East Side neighborhood. Wally attended Mt. Known as "Papa" by his grandchildren, Wally was a fixture at their school performances and their many sporting events over the years. "To Mr Zelenika’s family, my sincere condolences. Both of my children attended Washington Elementary School, and when my daughter was in eighth grade, the school started hiring what they then called School Assistants. I applied, and Mr. Zelenika hired me. I ended up working there for 27 years. I was always so grateful that he had faith in me. He was the consummate professional, and a very kind man."
