Jean O. Mizicko (nee O'Connor)

Passed away on November 19, 2025

Jean O. Mizicko (nee O’Connor), age 80.  Late of St. John, Indiana, formerly of Country Club Hills, Illinois, passed away peacefully November 19, 2025.  Loving mother of Lisa (Dan) Weldon, Laura (Ivan Brunetti) Mizicko, and Catherine (Peter Hirsch) Mizicko. Cherished grandmother of Jack, Emily, Maizie, and Beatrice. Dear sister-in-law of Barbara (Jerry) Bekker and Diane (late Frank) Lazowski. Wonderful aunt of many nieces and nephews. Devoted friend to many. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward, parents Charles and Bridget O’Connor and sisters Mary (Charles) Koloseiki, Dorothy Gegan, and Charlene (Leo) Conlan. 

Jean was a retired teacher for Southwood, District #160 – Country Club Hills, and remained a passionate advocate of public education throughout her life. According to St. Thomas Aquinas, “charity is the form, mover, mother and root of all the virtues,” and Jean lived in that spirit by generously supporting many charities, especially ones dedicated to alleviating poverty and hunger, helping animals, and protecting the environment.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Funeral service Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from the Elmwood Funeral Chapel, 11300 W. 97^th Lane, St. John to the St. John the Evangelist Day Chapel, 11301 W/ 93^rd Ave., St. John for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m..
