Raphael “Rae” Shideler, age 95, late of Hegewisch, passed away October 24, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born to Anthony and Mary Spytek on October 3, 1930. She is survived by her loving son, Douglas (Donna) Shideler of Cedar Lake, IN. Caring grandmother of Dustin (Krissy) Shideler of Demotte, IN, Brandon Shideler of Hebron, IN, Courtney Grupka of Crown Point, IN, and Stefanie (Matthew) Kosinski of Ely, MN. Proud great grandmother of Hunter Kosinski, Carrington Kosinski, Aiden Kosinski, Thomas Grupka, Alexah Shideler, Hudson Kosinski, Dylan Shideler, and Elizabeth Kosinski. She was also a dear aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, George Shideler in 2011; brother Johnny Spytek ; sisters: Lottie, Rose, Laura, and Helen. Rae was born and raised in Hegewisch, Illinois and graduated from St. Francis deSales High School. She lived her life devoted to her family and Catholic faith. Her home was always open, and her kitchen was not only for cooking, but for DANCING. She will be greatly missed by many.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. at the Elmwood Funeral Chapel and Crematory 9931 Lincoln Plaza Way, Cedar Lake, In. 46303.
