Passed away on October 16, 2025

Simon R. Valdez, age 74, late of the East Side passed away on October 16, 2025. Beloved husband of Cynthia for 40 years. Loving father of Michael (Roberta) Dzado III, Kevin (Melanie) Dzado and Kerenza “Kerry” (Alex) Ventura. Devoted grandfather of Jacob, Ryan, Kayla, Emily, and Alex. Dear son of the late Simon Valdez and late Paula Valdez. Dear brother of Mario Vadez and Juliet Valdez. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.  

Simon worked for Norbart Studios where he met his wife, Cynthia in 1985. Simon spent the majority of his career as an employee of the City of Chicago Department of Aviation and worked for both Meigs Field and Chicago O’Hare Airport. He also ran his own carpet & furniture cleaning business and worked as a carpenter. 

Simon enjoyed spending time with his family and his many pets. He also loved music, especially artists such as The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, The Allman Brothers Band, and Bob Seger. On his time off, you could find Simon enjoying the simple things in life like grilling in the backyard, listening to classic rock, and sitting in the sun. Simons laugh and presence will be forever missed.
