Joseph A. Cordero, Jr. (Ret. Lt. CFD), age 73, late of Hegewisch and formerly of Whiting, IN passed away on October 13, 2025. Former husband of Barbara Pfeffer and Cherie Cordero, Loving father of Joseph A. Cordero, III, Jeff Cordero, Jason Cordero and Jordan Cordero. Devoted grandfather of Brittany (Brock) Bugaj, and Justin Cordero. Cherished great-grandfather of Bennett. Dear son of the late Joseph A. Cordero, Sr. and late Catalina Cordero. Dearest brother of Kathleen (Kenneth) Reinke, Christopher Cordero, Carrie (Steve) Lilovich, Laura (late Robert) Schassburger and late Lorrain Altamirano. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Joseph was a retired lieutenant of the City of Chicago, CFD.
He served on the CFD from 1977-2002 and rode on Truck 3 out of Engine Co. 42’s house. He also worked for US Steel several years as well as Sears for 16 years. Joseph enjoyed all sorts of movies, music, and sports but really enjoyed baseball - he was a devoted Cubs fan.
