Marco Puente, age 73, late of East Side, passed away October 11, 2025. Beloved husband of Elisa (nee Gutierrez). Loving father of Ricardo Puente and Diana Puente. Devoted grandfather of Alyssa, Samuel, Andre, Max and Nayeli. Dearest brother of Rosa Guerrero, Maria Selvig, Juan Puente, Ismael Puente, Jorge Gonzales, Maria Ortega, late Alejandro Gonzales Sanchez, late Jose Puente, late Hector Puente and late Isabel Heriberto Gonzales Sanchez. 

Marco was born on December 25, 1951, in Saltillo Coahuila Mexico. Son of Jose Puente and Maria Luisa Sanchez. He later migrated to Chicago, where he built his life and raised his family.

A hardworking man, Marco spent many years with Republic Steel and later served as an employee for the City of Chicago. Outside of work, he was happiest in his kitchen or backyard, cooking up homemade authentic Mexican meals or a delicious BBQ for family and friends — always with a cold Bud Light in hand. You could always find him on the dance floor with his famous moves and well known hand gestures. 

Known for his easygoing spirit and love of simple pleasures, Marco enjoyed taking long walks through the East Side neighborhood, often stopping by McDonald’s or Burger King for a hot cup of coffee and a friendly chat. He loved to tell his famously corny jokes that never failed to make everyone laugh.

Marco will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His warmth, humor, and love of family will remain in the hearts of many.

Visitation Thursday 2-8 p.m. Funeral Services Friday, October 17, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. from the Elmwood Chapel, 11200 S. Ewing Ave., Chicago to Our Lady of Nazareth Church. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. 773-731-2749. www.elmwoodchapel.com
