It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Mary R Graves, 78 of Westfield, IN. She passed away on September 29, 2025, after a brief hospital stay in Indianapolis, IN . Mary is survived by her husband Earl of 57 years of marriage, son Cole (Karen) and grandsons Asher and Elan.
Mary was born on March 17, 1947, to Edward and Margaret Barbauld in Hammond, IN. She graduated from Merrillville High School in 1965. In 1968 she married Earl J Graves and in 1971 they welcomed their only child , Cole Ashley.
Mary was a fantastic and wonderful mother. She excelled at supporting her family through the passions and difficulties of their lives, while making sure family memories stayed alive. She also had many lifelong friendships going back to her childhood. Mary loved all things beautiful. When she wasn’t filling her home with warmth, kindness and seasonal decor, she could be found tying countless bows, creating stunning floral arrangements or keeping up with interior design trends. For 26 years she loved working at Louise’s Hallmark. Most important was her love for her two grandsons Asher and Elan. We will miss her and her infectious laugh greatly.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, Edward and Margaret. Sisters, Kim Koepl and Diana Barbauld. Mary is survived by Tina (Tom) Britton, Jim (Cheryl) Barbauld, Scott Barbauld, Michael (Roberta) Barbauld and Margaret (Henry) Mendoza.
