Tom McGrath (Ret. CFD), age 73. Late of Hegewisch. Passed away on September 14, 2025. He was born August 21, 1952, in Chicago, IL. Beloved husband of Jackie (nee Ritchie). Loving father of James (CFD), Kevin (CFD) and the late Kelly McGrath. Dearest brother of Kevin (Andrea) McGrath, Dennis McGrath, and Mary Kay (Dave) Banik. Fond brother -in- law, uncle, and incredible friend to many. He leaves behind his faithful companion Ruger. Preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Kathleen McGrath, and brother Patrick McGrath.

Tom was a veteran of the U.S. Army, member of Wolf Lake Rod and Gun Club, and most proud of being a Bad Boy of Roseland on Engine 62 for 34 years with the Chicago Fire Department. Tom was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by all.

Visitation Friday, September 19, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Elmwood Chapel 11200 S. Ewing Ave. Chicago, IL. 60617. "Jim and Kevin, I was so sorry to hear of your father's death...he was truly larger than life. I have fond memories of visiting 62's house and listening to him "hold court." he was truly a "fireman's fireman!" I'm sorry I can't be present for his services as I will be in Colorado Springs for the IAFF Fallen Firefighters Memorial. I will say Mass for him tomorrow (9/17) here at St. Mary of Providence. Fr.
