Amalia Mijares, age 48, late of Whiting, Indiana, passed away on August 20, 2025. Loving mother of Salvador, Monique, Mariah and Alonzo. Cherished grandmother of Michael "MJ", Makenzie, Alajah, Damian, Salvador, she also has a grandaughter on the way, Kamila. Beloved daughter of Elba (Norman) Cooper, and Andres (Norma) Mijares. Dearest sister of Angelina Mijares and Sabrina (Sergio) Ortiz. Fond Aunt of Raul Jr., Sophia, Sabella and Samantha.

Amalia was full of life and love! Her passion was to travel and dance, dance, dance!  Family was her most important attribute…She was a loving Daughter, Mama, Gamma, Sister and Titi always! She was a loyal friend to many and loved to gather together for whatever reason. She loved to EAT and always enjoyed good food especially with a nice glass of wine (Cooper's Hawk) if you know, you know.

Visitation Monday, August 25, 2025 from 2:00 – 8:00 pm.  Funeral Services Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at 10:00 am at the Elmwood Chapel, 11200 S. Ewing Ave. Chicago.  Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.  For more information 773-731-2749
