Passed away on August 3, 2025

Eloisa Gamboa (née Bermejo) age 97, formerly of Munster and South Chicago, passed away August 3, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Salvador Gamboa for 68 years. Loving mother of Ray ( Joan ) Gamboa, Julia Ann (Francisco) Lopez, Rich (Nelly) Gamboa, Michael (Olga) Gamboa, Salvador III (Janine) Gamboa, and the late Robert (Anne Marie) Gamboa.  Devoted grandmother of 15, cherished great grandmother of 13 and great-great grandmother of 1.  Dearest sister of Lupe Martinez, late Marian Zuniga, late Raquel Bermejo, late Manuel Bermejo, late Rudy Bermejo and late Joseph Bermejo. Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents Jose and Herlinda Bermejo. 

During her working years, she was employed at Lester’s Clothing ,Steel City Furniture, and Steel City Bank.  She enjoyed using her bilingual skills to assist Spanish speaking customers and as a result, made many friends in the South Chicago business area.  Once retired, she took great pleasure in keeping a tidy house and caring for her husband. 

She was a devoted wife, mother and friend.  Her family was her biggest treasure.  Her love, kindness and outspokenness will be deeply missed by all who knew her. 

A special thank you to Aviva Valparaiso, Dunes Hospice, Netty from HomeWell Care Services, and to the staff of the University of Chicago Hospital for their loving care and support.  Additional thanks to Elmwood Chapel for all of the arrangements.
