Laura Furmanek

Passed away on July 24, 2025

On July 24, 2025, heaven welcomed a fiercely kind, wildly funny, and beautifully stubborn soul — Laura Furmanek. She was 44 years young, but she packed enough heart, humor, and grit into those years to fill lifetimes.

Born on February 2, 1981, Laura was a walking contradiction in the best way: soft-hearted and strong-willed. Endlessly kind and yet totally unafraid to speak her mind (especially when you really needed to hear it). She had a core of steel wrapped in warmth, laughter, and just enough sarcasm to keep you on your toes.

She loved deeply and without hesitation. Friends, family, even total strangers often found themselves pulled into her orbit — warmed by her generosity, her honesty, and the way she made you feel truly seen. Laura was the person who’d drop everything to help, even if it meant showing up late with coffee in one hand and a slightly panicked smile.

She was also lovingly stubborn in the best way — a fighter, an advocate, and someone who stood up (and sometimes stood very firmly) for what she believed was right. That strength carried her through everything, and it inspired everyone lucky enough to witness it.

Laura’s Purdue University education prepared her for a highly successful career in the event planning industry within the Hilton hotel chain, but she certainly didn’t need a title to be special - just “Titi” was enough. It started as a nephew’s attempt to say her name, but it became something so much more: a name that carried the feeling of home, of hugs that lasted, and of a love that never wavered. From frequent babysitting of her nephews as infants to visiting the boys at their respective universities, Laura was always deeply involved in their lives. She treated them all as if they were her very own.

In true Laura fashion, we won’t be holding a quiet memorial — we will be hosting a celebration! There will be music, laughter, and stories shared…and maybe a few tears. And, yes, the dress code includes color…she wouldn’t want it any other way.

We love you, Laura.

You were one of a kind: a bright light with a whole lotta sass.
