Juana "Marcelina" Quezada (née Gomez), aged 85, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on July 18, 2025, surrounded by her family.
She was the beloved mother of Leticia Quezada, Carlos (Scott) Quezada, Arnulfo Quezada Jr., Leonardo Quezada, Rosa Lilia Quezada, and Maribel Christina Quezada, and a cherished grandmother to Leonardo Quezada Jr., Michael Alexander Vernich, and Alexandra Elise Vernich. Marcelina was a dear sister to Margarito Gomez, Antonio Gomez, Francisca Cervantes, Carmen Gomez, Rita Gomez, Gonzalo Gomez, Manuel Gomez, Graciela Castellanos, and Patricia Gomez. She is also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Arnulfo, her parents Francisco and Bernarda Gomez, and her sisters Jesus Martinez and Maria Gonzalez.
Marcelina dedicated her life to her family and enjoyed singing, gardening, reading, solving word search puzzles, browsing thrift stores and flea markets, and taking walks in nature. Her radiant smile, wise advice, sharp wit, and kind words touched everyone she met, and she will be deeply missed.
The Quezada family wishes for her to be remembered for the joy she brought to others, rather than the sorrow of her passing. In accordance with Marcelina's wishes, no services will be held. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Elmwood Chapel and Crematory in Cedar Lake, IN.
