Max Bilo

Passed away on July 18, 2025


Max J. Bilo, age 89, of Schererville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025. Born on March 30, 1936.  He lead a meaningful life devoted to family, service, and hard work. He proudly served in the United States Army Reserve and went on to graduate from Purdue University with a degree in Engineering. Following graduation from Purdue he built a long and successful career with BP (formerly Standard Oil), from which he retired.

Max was a devoted husband to Gail and a loving stepfather to Derek O'Bryan (wife Joni O'Bryan) and Sarah Crossley. He was a proud grandfather to Quinn and Keegan O'Bryan and a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly for his warmth, quiet strength, and good humor. He is preceded in death by his sister Stephanie, brother Michael, and nephew Joe.

Max's presence, wisdom, and kindness touched all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community.

Visitation and Funeral Services Wednesday, July 23, 2025 from 10:00 am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am DIRECTLY at St. Maria Goretti Chuch 500 Northgate, Dyer, Indiana 46311. Interment Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Max's honor.  Arrangements entrusted to Elmwood Funeral Chapel – St. John. IN.
