Passed away on June 23, 2025


Kathryn F. Remar (Kay), (nee Rosenbaum), age 88, of Chicago (Hegewisch) passed away on June 23, 2025. Beloved wife of the late John Michael Remar “Jack” for 65 years. Loving mother of Michael (Nancy) Remar, Nancy (Kevin) Weyh and Jean Skupien. Devoted grandmother of Stephanie (Konrad) Waliszewski, Andrew (Kelly) Remar, Joseph Skupien, Lauren Remar, Jamie Skupien, Sara Remar, Jennifer Remar and Amanda Weyh. Cherished great grandmother of Miles, Pax, Arlo, Kaya and Peyton. Dear daughter of the late Alfred and late Cecelia Rosenbaum. Dearest sister of late Richard (late Maureen) Rosenbaum. Fond sister-in-law of the late Rosary Perkins (late Wendell) and late Albert (late Joanne) Remar. Aunt and great-aunt of many nieces and nephews, and dear friend of many.   

Kay graduated from St. Dorothy Catholic School and later graduated from Mercy Catholic High School in Chicago.  She was a lifetime member of the Southeast Sportsmen’s Club in Chicago and AMVETS Post 43 in Burnham, IL.  Kay volunteered in Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and was a very active volunteer at St. Columba Catholic School and Church.   She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren at events and various excursions throughout the US.  Kay was an avid traveler, trekking across the US and visiting over 75 countries including the Caribbean, Africa, Australia, Dubai, Europe and most recently, Alaska.  She was an amazing woman who loved to spend time with her many friends, going to concerts and plays, playing cards and was the life of the party. 

Visitation Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 3-7 p.m. (Prayer service at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday evening). Funeral Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 10:15 a.m. from the Elmwood Chapel 11200 S. Ewing Ave. Chicago, IL 60617 to Our Lady of Nazareth Church (Formerly Annunciata Church) 11128 S. Ave. G. Chicago, IL 60617.
