Eric Steven Poe, of Highland, a devoted father, veteran, and beloved son, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025, at the age of 54. Born on October 21, 1970, Eric was the 1st-born son of Linda Thomas and Richard Poe. He was a graduate of Highland High School and Ball State University. Eric served his country with honor, retiring from the United States Army after a distinguished career, completing multiple tours of service in Iraq.

Eric’s life was marked by a deep love for family. He was a passionate drummer and lifelong fan of music, often filling his home with rhythm and sound. He was a loving and dedicated father to Eric Poe Jr. (Randi) and to his late daughter, Hannah Poe. He also leaves behind his cherished dog, Cookie, who was his faithful companion.

He is survived by his siblings, Daniel Poe (Victoria) and Andrew Norton (Lynn), along with many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever hold his memory close. Eric’s kindness, laughter, fierce loyalty, and gentle spirit touched all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him.

Memorial Visitation will take place Friday, June 20, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of Military Honors and Celebration of Life Service at 7:30 p.m. at the Elmwood Funeral Chapel 11300 W. 97th Ln. St. John, IN. 46373.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Eric’s name to Autism Speaks.
