Grace E. (Gomez) Sanchez, age 85 a long-time resident of Hegewisch passed away surrounded by her family on May 3, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Gabino Sanchez, devoted mother of Steven (Marisel) Hernandez, Joy Ann Hernandez, Michael Anthony (Barbara) Hernandez and Mario Antonio (Vanessa) Rodriguez. Loving Grandmother of Erin Cooper, Lauren Emerson, Michael Hernandez, and Steven J. Hernandez. Great Grandmother of Kennedy and Mason Cooper. Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Fortino and Margaret Gomez and her siblings Carmen Earnest, Philip Gomez, Frank J. Gomez and Lydia Trevino.
Grace was a caring and loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, comadre and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was always ready for a game of “Loteria”. Grace worked for over a decade as a Chicago Police Department Crossing Guard and enjoyed helping school children get safely to school. Her life was witness to the power of faith, family, friendships and hard work. She shared her wisdom, humor and enduring spirit with her children that will live on in their hearts forever. May your memories of Grace be a testament to love, family and kindness. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
