William A. “Bill” Chandler, age 68. Late of Dyer, Indiana formerly of Lynwood, Illinois. Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 14, 2025, after a courageous battle with ALS. Beloved husband of Sandy (nee Zunica) for 36 years. Loving father of Will (Emily Ganza, fiancé) Chandler and Alyssa (Randy) Fugaj. Cherished Papa of Paisleigh, Rosie, Cam, and Kai. Dearest son of the late Jean (late Bob) Knox and late William F. Chandler. Dear son in law of Carol Zunica. Bill is also survived by his aunt Joan Baehler; cousins: Danny, Artie, and Glen; in laws: Linda (Carl) Stahluak, Michael (Jacqui) Zunica, Larry (Carol) Zunica, and Mike O’Block, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his father-in-law Lee Zunica and sister-in-law Debbie O’Block. Bill was a retired laborer for Berglund Construction. He was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed exercising, biking and hiking at Starved Rock. Bill loved listening to blues music and attending concerts, clubs, and festivals but most of all he cherished spending time with his grandchildren. A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 12 -3 p.m. at the Elmwood Funeral Chapel 11300 W. 97th LN. (1/2 block west of US 41/Wicker Ave. at 97thLN.) St. John.
