It is with deep sorrow and much love, we mourn the passing of Regina Kopaczewski on March 28, 2025 at the age of 102 years. Born on December 6, 1922 to Walter and Veronica Bartczak in Chicago, Illinois, Regina leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, kindness, and devout faith.
Regina is survived by her adoring daughter Renette Cuevas; Loving Grandchildren Lynn (Steve) Lange, John (Kathy) Mauer, Michael Mauer, Coleen (Brian) Peppin, Kellie (Buddy Michalski) Nowakowski, Anthony (Christina) Nowakowski, Daniel Griffiths, Jason Helton; Great-grandchildren Shauna Lange, Stevie (Jensen) Lange, Tony Mauer, Paul Mauer, Taylor Mauer, Logan Nowakowski, Maddie Nowakowski, Paige Fanning, Kyle Cuevas, Olivia Belcher, Nicholas Griffiths, Taylor Griffiths, Matthew Griffiths, Shawn Helton, Simon Helton, Chloe Griffiths, Lily Griffiths, Charlie Griffiths, and Owen Griffiths; Great-great grandchildren Annabelle Georgeff, Benjamin Georgeff, Addilynn Lange, Charlotte Lange, Ellianna Lange.
Her memory lives on with many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
Proceeded in death by parents Veronica and Walter Bartczak; Husbands Anthony Nowakowski, John Kopaczewski; Brothers Ernest (Mary) Bartczak, Joseph (Marion) Bartczak, John (Dorothy) Bartczak , Edward (Dorothy) Bartczak; Sister Irene Bartczak; Daughter Virginia Mauer; Son-in-law John Mauer; Son Anthony Nowakowski; Daughter-in-law Peggy Nowakowski; Son-in-law Ray Cuevas; Son-in-law James Griffiths; Grandchildren Shawn Nowakowski, James Griffiths, Amy Cuevas and Buddy Michalski. Regina dedicated herself to many roles throughout her long and love filled life. She worked as a seamstress, a small business owner, and bookkeeper. She devoted much love and compassion, and countless hours of volunteer work with many Catholic and community organizations and Veterans groups. She became “Grandma” to hundreds of children and dozens of staff members at Columbia Elementary School.
Regina’s strong faith and loving heart never wavered, and she was an inspiration to all lives she touched. A constant source of love and support to her family, Regina will be forever missed by those who loved her most.
