Jean Therese Sisk (nee Draus)

Passed away on March 25, 2025

Jean Therese Sisk (née Draus), age 61, of Cedar Lake, Indiana, passed away on March 25, 2025. She was born August 6, 1963 to Edward and Rosemary Draus, as the youngest of 7 children. Although her life was cut far too short, she lived a life fiercely caring for all those around her.

Jean, known affectionately as Jeanie to friends and family, was the embodiment of selflessness. Everything she did was to provide for others in any way she could, from her children to complete strangers.  She was dependable, reliable, and the person everyone could count on in times of need.

Although it is impossible to summarize her life in such few words, there were several facets of her life known by all. Jeanie was an incredible cook, baker and gardener. She found joy in creating beautiful custom-decorated cakes for family celebrations, making each occasion special and personal. In addition, she found peace tending to her garden and watching the birds visiting her many feeders. She took particular delight in spotting migratory birds and had a special fondness for cardinals, collecting cardinal-themed items throughout her life.

Above all else, Jeanie was a soul-mate wife, unparalleled mother, and devoted grandmother. As a loving wife of over 40 years, Jeanie and Kenny shared a partnership built on love and devotion. Their marriage was characterized by unwavering support for one another through life's joys and challenges. They are everyone’s favorite couple.

Jeanie supported her children unconditionally through every stage of life. Her granddaughters, Eva and Kierra, were the light of her life. She cherished creating magical moments with them, hiding presents around the house for them to discover and always staying current with their ever-changing interests. Her thoughtful gifts reflected her attentiveness to their passions and her desire to bring them joy.

Jean is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Kenneth; their four children, Ryan (Samantha), Thomas, Lindsey (Erik), and Kyle; her two precious granddaughters, Eva and Kierra; her best friend, Kim Majka; her loving siblings and countless friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Thomas.

A memorial service will be held at Elmwood Funeral Chapel 11300 W. 97th Ln (1/2 block west of US 41/Wicker Ave. at 97th Ln.) St. John, Indiana on Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 12 – 3pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation or a charity of your choice in her honor.

Jeanie's warmth, generosity, and loving spirit will be deeply missed but will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. For more information 219-365-3474 or www.elmwoodchapel.com
