It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rosa Maria Lopez (née Delgado), who was taken from us on March 15, 2025, at the age of 72. Preceded in death by her parents, Refugio and Ines Delgado, Rosa is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Gabriel, their two children, Ernesto (Rosalva) and Jaime Lopez, and her 12 siblings: Flavio, Lupe, Leopoldo, Graciela, Maria, Inez, Refugio, Arturo, Carlos, Jorge, Marta, and Vero—along with their spouses and numerous nieces and nephews. Rosa was also a proud and loving grandmother to Danny and Isabel, who will forever cherish memories of their grandmothers’ warmth, delicious Mexican cooking, and her tender care.
Born in Jalisco, Mexico, Rosa lived in South Chicago for many years before settling in the southern suburbs of Cook County, where she lived for nearly 35 years devoting her life to caring for her family. She was the steadfast peacekeeper of the Delgado family and the cherished backbone of the Lopez family.
Rosa led a simple yet profoundly meaningful life, touching the hearts of all who knew her. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a treasured grandmother, and often served as the voice of reason and unity among her siblings. Her love for the casino brought moments of joy during challenging times, and she had an unparalleled talent for spreading happiness.
Her passion for Mexican regional music and her creativity in arts and crafts inspired her to think imaginatively and create beautiful, unique art works. As a devoted daughter, she looked after her parents with unwavering dedication and loving care until their peaceful passing, embodying resolve and resilience in every challenge she faced.
Rosa's kindness and warmth left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Though her absence will be deeply felt, her legacy of love, compassion, and strength will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Rosa is at peace; reunited in Heaven with her loving parents.
