Passed away on February 18, 2025


Nick G Petros, late of Hegewisch. Born March 23, 1948 in Lidoriki, Greece.  Passed away February 18, 2025.  Preceded death by his parents George and Giannoula (Apostolopoulos) Petros and brother Paul. Survived by wife Ruth (nee Kookich), his sister Maria (late Deno) Dalacas, son Christopher Petros  (Olivia), daughter Nikki (Jim) Hall, grandchildren Nicholas (Ashley) Gaik, Alexandra (Kyle) Gaik, James Hall, Ana Petros and Sophia Petros. Many nieces and nephews. 

Nick came to the United States in 1958 and became a citizen in 1961.  He graduated from Chicago Vocational High School in 1967. Nick served as a combat medic from 1967-69 in Vietnam, served with honorable discharge.  Nick was a L.U. 597 Pipefitter ex apprentice journeyman who retired after 38 years. 

Nick was a history buff and political enthusiasts, a Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune champion from the comfort of his couch, but most of all loved spending his free time with his family and friends.
