Pamela A. Hovan, age 71. Late of the East Side. Passed away on January 31, 2025 after a battle with cancer. Beloved daughter of the late Vladimir and late Eleanor (nee Jurkowski) Hovan. Dearest sister of Michael (Belinda) Hovan. Loving aunt of Lindsey (Mike) Opyd and Elizabeth (Mark) Binnendyk. Fond great aunt to Aiden, Lukas, Bentley, and Brody. Cherished “aunt” to Justin, Kelsey, Joe, & Sarah. Pam was an educator. She spent most of her years at St. Mary’s in Bridgeport and Maria High School, and before concluding her teaching career in Blue Island. She loved all genres of music, from the Beatles and Motown to her favorite, Rick Springfield. She loved concerts, the theatre, lighthouses, and reading books, especially Stephen King novels. Pam loved spending time with her closest friends, many of whom she met in college, (the Aces), and her loving family. She loved tradition. If you wanted to learn how to make homemade pierogi, she would jump at the chance to teach you how to roll the dough to perfection. Pam could make the most mundane activity exciting and fun, everything was an adventure. Visitation (from 9:00 to 11:00 AM), followed by a Prayer service, will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the Elmwood Chapel. Private Burial to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the American Cancer Society.
