Helen Polovina (nee Zorich), passed away on January 26, 2025, longtime resident of the East Side. She was the beloved wife of the late Archie Polovina; loving mother of Sandra Knapp, Anthony (Claudia) Polovina, Robert (Suzanne) Polovina; and predeceased by her sons, Peter Polovina and David Stuart. She was the dearest “Baba” of Sam Polovina, Olivia Polovina, Lucas Polovina and Viviana Valenciana. Loving daughter of the late Mihailo and late Nora Zorich; dear sister of the late Vera (late Mike) Viamis, late Rose (late John) Vukasovic, late Violet (late Don) Bradich, late Nada Milos, late Dan (late Connie) Zorich, late Billy Zorich, late George Jaksich, late Millie Jaksich, late Mike (Carole) Jaksich, late Milena (late James) Staley and late Rudy (Jackie) Jaksich; and dear sister-in-law of the late Nicolas (late Shirley) Polovina, late Pearl (George) Bonadurer, late Sylvia (late Tom) Ryan and Robert (late Debbie) Polovina. Fond cousin of the late Dessie (late Mitch) Jokich, late Dorothy (late Eli) Drobac. “Teti Goo Goo” to many nieces and nephews. Helen worked for many years in the lunchroom at George Washington High School, where she was affectionately known as the “Cookie Lady.” An avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and Chicago Blackhawks. Helen was very proud of her Montenegrin heritage and her South Chicago upbringing. Her devoted and loyal personality will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Visitation Thursday, January 30, 2025  5-9 p.m. with a Pomen Service at 5 p.m. at the Elmwood Chapel, 11200 S. Ewing Ave., Chicago, IL. Funeral Services Friday, January 31, 2025 DIRECTLY at St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church, 18600 S. Stony Island Ave., Lansing, IL where Helen will Lie in State from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. Very Rev. Aleksandar Savic officiating.
