Valentine “Val” Hojnacki, age 89.  Late of Cedar Lake, Indiana formerly of Dyer and East Chicago-Harbor Indiana.  Passed away January 9, 2025.  Beloved husband of the late Lois (Kucken) for 64 years.  Loving father of Karen (Robert) Ohlenkamp and the late Thomas (late Lydia) Hojnacki.  Cherished papa of Mitchell Mahoney and Dylan Ohlenkamp.  Dearest brother of Patricia (Joseph) Manchak, Richard (late Cheryl) Honack, and the late Raymond (late Dorothy) Hojnacki.  Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by parents Kasper and Sarah Hojnacki.  Veteran of the U.S. Army – National Guard.  Val was a retired employee of Inland Steel with 43 years of dedicated service.  Val was a friend to all.  His smile and sense of humor made people instantly at ease and people wanted to call him friend. He loved being outdoors, barbecuing for family and friends and loved to garden. He was a faithful servant of God, adored his wife and children/grandsons and loved his country. 

Visitation Wednesday, January 15, 2025 from 3:00 – 6:00 pm at the Elmwood Funeral Chapel, 9931 Lincoln Plaza Way (1/2 block south of 133rd Ave. across from the library at Lincoln Plaza Way) Cedar Lake.  Funeral Thursday, January 16, 2025 DIRECTLY at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church 11000 W. 133rd Ave. Cedar Lake.
