Branislav Ilic "Branko," age 74. Late of East Chicago,IN., formerly of Lansing, IL., and Whiting, IN. passed away on December 3, 2024. Loving Tata of Tanya (Michael) Kuta, and Zoran Ilic (Milan Nedeljkovic). Cherished Deda of Braydon, Greyson, and Michael. Preceded in death by his mother Branka.
Branko received a bachelors degree in Education from Ball State University. He was the owner of Branko's Sports World and owned a maintenance company. Branko was a lifelong soccer player, a talented goalie and coach. He was the president of the Illinois State Soccer Assocation and inducted into the Hall of Fame. He was also known as the Whiting Town Hero after saving many lives from an apartment fire, and served as Bailiff for the Town of Whiting, IN. His absence will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation and Funeral Services will take place on Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 9:30 am until time of closing prayer at 11:30 am at the Elmwood Funeral Chapel 11300 W. 97th LN. (1/2 block west of US 41/Wicker Ave. at 97th Ln) St. John proceeding to St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church for Funeral Service at 12:30 pm with Very Rev. Aleksandar Savic, officiating (186th and Stoney Island Ave., Lansing, IL.) Interment Oak Hill Cemetery
