Jose Gustavo Vargas, age 81, late of Griffith, IN and formerly of South Chicago passed away on November 15, 2024. Beloved husband of Roberta Vargas for 45 years. Loving father of Maribel (Erik) Faye and Patricia Vargas. Devoted grandfather of Briana (Vincent) Liu, Jasmine Vargas, Nathan Hernandez, twins Ethan Hernandez and Emily Hernandez. Cherished great-grandfather of Theo Gustavo. Dear son of the late David and late Natalia Vargas. Dearest brother of Jose Trinidad (Rosa) Vargas, Socorro (late Cuco) Alcantar, Melesio (Nelly) Vargas, late Felipe (Jesusita) Vargas and late Aurelia (Roman) Martinez, late Manuel (late Lupe) Vargas. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. 
 Visitation Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 2-9 p.m. Funeral Friday, November 22, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. from the Elmwood Chapel 11200 S. Ewing Ave. Chicago, IL 60617 to Immaculate Conception Church. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Cemetery private. 773-731-2749. www.elmwoodchapel.com.
